âWhere your sister at, man?â I asked Jah as I walked into his office.
I didnât go to the car wash today because I had three scheduled tattoo sessions that I had just finished doing, which took up the majority of my day. Each session that I did, all of my customers had gotten big pieces done. It was a little bit after eleven at night, and I hadnât talked to Shaniqua since one oâclock this afternoon when she was on her lunch break.
I left her with a key to my home yesterday, and I told her to go over there tonight when she got off work. I had cameras set up all around that studio, plus my phone notified me whenever the front door of my home was opened, and I hadnât received anything. I was worrying now because her phone was going straight to voicemail, and I didnât have a clue where she was.
âProbably at the damn mall somewhere, with her shopping ass,â Jah joked, but I didnât laugh because something was telling me that shit wasnât right.
âNigga, look what time it is! She ainât at no fuckinâ mall,â I snapped.
Jah knew then how serious I was because that little smirk was quickly knocked right off his face.
âHold on, let me call her right quick,â he said.
I had my fingers crossed, hoping that he didnât get her voicemail like I had been getting.
âShit going straight to voicemail,â Jah told me, and I blew out a frustrated breath. âWhen did you realize that you werenât getting in contact with her?â he asked and stood up from the chair that he was sitting in.
âI was in the middle of doing tattoos and I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. I just assumed that it was my alarm system letting me know that the front door was opened. It wasnât until I just checked my phone and I realized that that wasnât what it was. She hasnât called, left a text message, or anything. We canât even get in contact with her ass if we tried because her fuckinâ battery is dead.
âI swear, she better have a good fuckinâ reason on why her phone is dead and she not letting us know that something is up with her. I donât like shit like this, man,â I vented.
I was trying to convince myself that Shaniqua had fucked up and I should just be mad at her, but something deep inside of me told me that it was bigger than that. Shaniqua loved that damn phone way too much to fuck around and let it die on her. Not only that, but Iâve been in her car with her a couple of times and she had about three damn charges in there. I didnât believe that she would have a reason to turn it off, especially when she knew that it was people who would want to get in contact with her and would wonder where the hell she was.
âLetâs just swing by her job first, and then weâll go from there.
